Production Evaluation
We used the greenroom to get the film noir effects, later when we edit and put our background on it. We used the greenroom for three scenes with the femme fatale and the doomed hero. We also used lighting on the main characters to show how important their roles are. We also used the greenroom for film noir effects so the scene looks like a film noir setting.
We used Film noir type of of props for example bottles, table lights, tables. We set the room like a film noir type of room. The setting of the room looked like a film noir room,we did this using the green room. We then edited a background to make it look more of a film noir setting. the setting we used had a film noir atmosphere because the things we used were vintage looking and made the setting look like a proper film noir room.
We also used classic film noir convention costumes to make our film more film noir alike for example for the doomed hero character we made our character look like a film noir character by making our character wear a suit and hat like the men would do in the 1940s. For the femme fatale she wore a black dress to symbolise mystery.she also wore heels to symbolise that she is above everyone else and also to be seductive.
We used final cut pro to edit our film because we use the green room so later we can put the bar and office background on the scenes that needed it.Also we edited our film to add sound so its clear and more interesting and we also used different film noir type fonts for our credits. Some of our voices were not clear in the scenes we filmed so we had to record our voices and edit them into the scenes were you could not hear our voices properly doing this made our film clear and better,if we didn't edit and record our voices in our scenes the film would not be clear and would be lacking its professionalism.
The skills i have learnt is directing as it was my film idea,we chose my film because it was interesting however we did add a little of everyone elses.Directing was not a easy job because i had to control everything and make sure the filming was perfect and up to standard it was a lot of responsibility but it was a really good skill that i have mastered.i had also mastered a new skill that i had not done before, filming is a new skill for me and i feel confident it was something i had not done before because this time i had learnt new angles:low, high, extreme close up and other varites of camera shots. To shoot our low angle shots we used the camrea and tripod by getting down low to make our low angle shot this was successful because our low angle shot was how we wanted it.For the high angle we put the the tripod to the highest level we could and shot from there this was also very successful. We used lighting from different parts in the room to create a film noir effect also lighting on the main characters implies their significance,we also went outside to shoot when it was sunny because it created shadows that implicate mystery and creates tension especially for the doomed heroes characteritics. We used close ups on the main chatarcters like the femme fatale to show her dominanace and her facial expressions.the close up on the femme fatale is very useful because it shows the audeince how she lures the doomed hero by her captivating looks and words by doing this she attracts the doomed hero and causes him to instantly fall in love with her vindictive ways and he ends up doing what she wants which is the base of the film and fits perfectly with the genre. The close up on the doomed hero is also useful because it shows his relevance to the film and also to focus on his facial expressions. We also used an extereme close up on the femme fatale because it indicates her importance.
I came up with my title 'Drunk In Temptation' because it fits perfectly with the story and the film noir genre as my film is based on twisted love and conseuqences which is similar to being drunk because theres always consequences after. The temptation part in the title indicates the lust of the femme fatale and the need for her love but its something the doomed hero cannot get so easily. When we edited our title in our opening we wrote the title in an old calligraphy style handwriting so it fits with the year it would have been made. We made a mistake with the colour because we had a black and white theme but we put red instead we thought it would work because when it was in white it was not clear so we tried red but after we realised that it was not a great idea.We also positioned it in the wrong place because the title should always be at the top but we made a mistake and put it at the bottom so if i could go back and i would focus on the small things like this after the big things.
I used Warner Brothers as the film company because they made Film noir films in the past and still produce good films films targerted at older people. If we used a film producer like Disney they're target audience is mainly children therefore that is not suitabale for a Noir film. Our primaryaudience is 18 and older and people who are interested in black and white films. It is also aimed at people who love plot twits and crime and our film covers much of that, its mainly about a femme fatale who manipulates three men but the plot twits is she is actually got manipulated by one man who was her true love.
We introduced our characters in our opening at the beginning.they entered walking and we showed their shoes and the side of their faces to create compelling effect. To create tension and interest we did a blackout scene to create suspensions,we did this because we want the gunshot to creater tension for the auduience. We added voiceover to make it clear and also it was something most Noir films did in the past.We made the audiemce question what was going to happen as part of the plot twist and not make the film boring. We left the opening of the film on a clifhanger which is prem behind bars because it created tension.
To conclude i think our Film Noir opening was good for our first time but with more time and more editing it could have been much better. We have many errors which i would have liked to spent more time but we didnt have time to do so.The accents where good but they could have been better also
when we edited one of our characters voice in a scene where the audio was not clear but the recording of the new voice we tried to edit in was to quick and did not fit in properly with the scene we filmed.I learnt new skills and lessons through making a film,i learnt that making a film requries alot of time and alot of skills also effort that its not just setting a camrea and acting it requires alot of planning and editing. Therefore the process of the film was interesting and fun i know now that next time i need to spend more time and work harder.
